Why do you need an Accountant?
The degree to which you will need an accountant depends on what type of firm you intend to run. Sole trading is the most straight-forward of company set up, but some without the benefit of limited liability enjoyed by limited firms. It is worth spending time considering which set-up company format is best for you.
What will your accountant do?
An accountant can help smooth this whole process. They will advise what type of business is best for operate as. They will help compile the forms necessary to get started – registering with HMRC, national insurance, VAT etc. They will also help produce your annual self-assessment. As experienced businessmen, you accountant will also be able to advise on a range of matters, some, perhaps, that you hadn't even considered
What should your accountant charge?
In the main accountants will charge on an hourly basis as part of your on-going relationship with them. However, it may be possible to arrange a one-off fee in some instances.
